Follow along: Using Claude to "automate" Shopify SEO (Part 3/3)
Hey trailblazer,
It’s Friday!! Hope the week has been good to you so far.
Over the last few weeks, I’ve been sharing how we use a Claude AI agent and simple tools like Plug in AI to “automate” SEO in my Shopify store (Previous editions here and here). Yes, “automate” in quotes because a person still needs to do the work. Attractive as it seems, I still stand against giving Claude unfettered, unrestricted access to any store and AI ahent.
That being said, today I’ll share the results from running a Claude-AI-agent-led competitor analysis in the store. With this test, I wanted Claude to thoroughly analyze a particular competitor and tell me the specific steps I needed to take to beat them.
Plus Fable 5 recently got released, so why not harness the power of Fable 5 in my business?

But first, a quick note…
If you’ve got your SEO under control but your problem is with email campaigns, check out Mailberry.ai
Most email platforms give you the tools. Mailberry helps operate the entire channel. Our AI-native platform combines strategy, campaigns, automated flows, segmentation, performance analysis, and deliverability management in one place, helping your business capture more potential buyers, convert them at the right moments, and create more repeat customers.
At the center of Mailberry is The Email Brain™, an intelligence layer that learns from your brand, audience, customer behavior, and campaign performance. It continuously identifies what to send, which automations need improvement, where revenue is being missed, and whether your emails are reaching the inbox. The result is a managed, continuously improving email revenue channel, without making email marketing another job.

..that being said, back in the room with the SEO people. Here are the 3 main steps I covered in this assessment:
Step 1: Assess organic search performance over the last month
Before launching our next campaign, I pulled our live Google Search Console data comparing how we’ve done in the last month:
today vs

last month

I noticed 3 things here:
Compared to the last month, our impressions actually grew by over 7%, climbing to 5.76K. This proves there is seasonal summer demand and expanding search interest in our niche… we just need to tap into it in the right way.
As it stands, our average position dropped from 11.1 to 12.8 which isn’t a good sign. In SEO, this slip of nearly 2 positions shows that high-potential "Gap Zone" keywords are sliding from the bottom of Page 1 deeper onto Page 2. We need to run the gap analysis as well and test those too
Because our pages slipped slightly further down, our click-through rate was sliced almost in half (from 1.1% down to 0.6%), resulting in a loss of nearly 45% of organic clicks….ouch
Time to get Claude to analyze why this is happening:
Step 2: Uncover Competitor Weaknesses & Assign Threat Levels
The agent ran a deep threat analysis on our top gap zone targets. It discovered 15 distinct content gaps, but crucially, it graded our competitors' strategies to tell us where we’re going wrong:
Our blog is currently 100% focused on certain themes, but GSC flagged that a different theme in the same niche just put us at at position 5.83…. so basically, we need to diversify our themes. Luckily, we run a print-on-demand store so this shouldn’t be hard to do.
It highlighted a major traffic driver keyword that we’re under utilizing. Our competitor, currently targets this with a thin product-tag landing page. Plus it’s one where we have a massive structural advantage.
Claude recommends thorough, high-quality 1,500-word cornerstone guide will easily outrank their thin tag page…plus because the agent has out brand voice saved, it will also help us create this content, so win-win. Here’s a snippet (mostly redacted for obvious reasons)

Step 3: Execute.
The competitor analysis has taken the guesswork out of our content queue. Instead of writing random articles, the agent mapped out our high-impact plan for next Tuesday to target beatable competitors:What's Next?
Our competitor analysis showed that publishing cadence itself is becoming a gap…our store hasn't published anything in over 5 weeks, while our top competitors run consistent quarterly trend franchises (we didn’t know this).
Now that the agent has defined the exact blueprints to outrank them, we need authority to lock in our success.
This brings us to the end of this Claude agent series. If you found this helpful, we’ll run this again in 3 months time to show how well we’re doing and how we’re using this to prepare for Q4. Should we do this?
Should we run a live AI SEO agent case study in September/October? |
P.S If you have questions about the Claude agent or see it in action, you can access a free demo/chat demo here.
Have a great weekend ahead
