P.S: Based on your feedback, we may turn Wednesday’s media opportunity edition into a tailored newsletter. This means that every Wednesday, you’ll only get a list of media opportunities relevant to your niche (and nothing else!).

However, we’ll ask for a small $10/mo sub to cover the cost of curate these just for you. If you have any questions or suggestions for the newsletter, please feel free to email them to [email protected] - I read/reply to every suggestion!

Is $10/mo sub worth it for tailored ecom media opportunities?

Google Lens in Shorts = Scrollable Search + Shoppable Video

Google just dropped a visual search power-up for YouTube Shorts. It basically lets your customers find your products without leaving the Shorts interface.

Here’s how it works:

  • Pause any Short

  • Tap “Lens”

  • Circle or tap anything you see (shoes, snacks, sunglasses... whatever)

  • Get instant info right above the video

They can use it to find your products, ID landmarks, translate captions, etc.

For your brand, this means:

  • The background of your product video (aka your retail premises) can now drive search traffic

  • Your packaging, your location, your vibe…it’s all clickable

  • Shorts are now more than entertainment…they’re entry points

Take note:
If you’re using YouTube Shopping affiliate tags, Lens won’t work on your video. There’s no visual search for monetized content, so you'll have to choose between visibility and monetization (for now).

🎯 Pro tip: Start thinking in “searchable frames.” Add unique product colors, custom fonts, or recognizable settings that people will want to tap on.

Tip: If you’re sick of losing profit due to coupon code leaks from apps like Honey, use KeepCart to protect your Shopify store coupon codes. Works like a charm!

UGC not converting? Get back to creative basics

I recently saw a cool video breakdown of simple loofah sponge video that went viral with a 54% hook rate.

  • It opened with a loofah getting sliced in 2 seconds

  • Used a full real family in the bathroom

  • Featured messy hair, bathrobes, wet floors (aka real life)

Here’s how you can replicate this

  • Start mid-action

  • Lean into chaos (real reactions > voiceovers)

  • Use real settings (messy countertops, pets in the background, bad lighting = gold)

If it looks too perfect, your customer scrolls. 😴 (Here’s the full video breakdown btw)

Trending Product: The TRTL Pillow

This scarf-shaped travel pillow has gotten really popular in the last 4 years… with not signs of stopping

It’s basically a pillow that wraps around your neck like a scarf. It’s also Velcro-secured with internal support system

One brand is doing $1.1M+/mo with this product on Amazon alone.

How to ride this trend if you’re in the travel/lifestyle:

  • Launch bundles: “Jet Lag Survival Kit” (think: travel pillow + eye mask + face mist)

  • Shoot chaotic plane UGC with a snoring seatmate and a TRTL pillow in frame

  • Use “TikTok made me buy it” as your hook and watch the clicks roll in
