Let's get into it.

Shop Campaigns is going international

A couple of weeks ago, I reported getting significantly more sales via Shop and wondered if Shopify was up to something there.

Now it turns out I was right. It looks like Shopify is building Shop to compete as a legit/competitive traffic source by expanding Shop Campaigns into 35+ new markets/

I wish I was getting paid to talk about this twice, but I’m not. It’s obvious that this is going to be a key traffic channel for sellers in Q4, as they’ve made it simple.

You basically choose how much you are willing to pay to acquire a customer and Shopify handles the advertising. You only pay when someone actually buys, rather than paying for clicks or impressions. Campaigns can run across 10+ channels including Shop, Meta, Google, ChatGPT and Pinterest, without setting up separate ad accounts for each one.

Shopify says Shop Campaigns has already driven more than 10 million sales, with merchants creating campaigns in under two minutes on average.

If you already sell internationally, this gives you a simpler way to test new markets without managing campaigns across several platforms. Start with a market where you already see some demand, set a customer acquisition cost that protects your margin, and see if Shopify can find more of those buyers.

Tip: Don’t neglect other traffic sources like Google/ChatGPT etc. Use AI to improve how often your store appears in other traffic channels in 3 steps

  1. Get Plug In AI

  2. Run a scan

  3. Generate SEO-optimized content on poor-performing products

Growth Hack: Stop Chasing Consistent Days. Chase Consistent Systems.

Ecommerce sales rarely arrive neatly. Monday can be great, Friday dead, and next month the pattern changes completely.

Instead of trying to find your magical sales day, look at what happens around the days that perform well. Did you send an email? Launch something? Publish new products? Run a promotion?

Daily revenue can swing even in established businesses. What you can control is how consistently you do the things that create opportunities to sell.

The consistency is in the inputs, not the outputs.

If sales feel random, stop asking, “Why is Tuesday slow?” Start asking, “What did I do differently when sales were good?”

Challenge: Build Your Sales Pattern Map in 60 Minutes

Step 1 (20 mins): Pull the last 8 to 12 weeks from Shopify Analytics. Note your sessions, orders, conversion rate and average order value by day.

Step 2 (20 mins): Add what was happening around those numbers. Mark promotions, emails, product launches and content that performed particularly well. A spike without context is just a number. A spike next to a campaign launch gives you something to investigate.

Step 3 (20 mins): Compare your three best-performing days. What do they have in common? Pick one possible cause and test it again. You are looking for something repeatable, not a lucky day of the week.

Trend: Persimmon Soap

Persimmon soap is a Japanese soap gaining attention as an alternative way to tackle body odor. Persimmons contain tannins that can help neutralize odor, and the product has found a particularly interested audience among people looking for solutions to age and hormone-related changes in body odor. One persimmon soap brand now brings in around $500,000 in monthly Amazon revenue.

3 ways to cash in on this trend

Sell the problem it solves. Most shoppers have never gone looking specifically for persimmon soap. Lead with the body odor problem and explain why this product is different from the deodorants and body washes they already know.

Build the shower routine. Pair the soap with body washes, exfoliating products, shower accessories and other odor-control products rather than treating it as a standalone purchase.

Create the educational content. Persimmon soap needs explaining, which gives beauty and personal-care brands plenty to work with. Answer the questions shoppers are already asking about changing body odor, how persimmon soap works and how to use it.

Till next Monday,
