Yes, Shopify was down... but good news, you can now get human customer service

In partnership with

Happy BCFM season to all 10,000 unstoppable Shopify builders! Hope you’re looking after yourself and not getting burnt out by the carnage out there (especially with Shopify being down today of all days). Nonetheless, here’s your weekly dose of “grow your store by 1%” goodness.

Inside today’s edition:

  • Industry: Human customer service now live on Shopify 😅

  • Growth Hack: Send your product reviews to Google Shopping

  • Weekly Challenge: 60 minutes to push your reviews into Google

  • Trend: 3D Book Nooks… the BookTok-powered goldmine

Let’s get in.

Find customers on Roku this holiday season

Now through the end of the year is prime streaming time on Roku, with viewers spending 3.5 hours each day streaming content and shopping online. Roku Ads Manager simplifies campaign setup, lets you segment audiences, and provides real-time reporting. And, you can test creative variants and run shoppable ads to drive purchases directly on-screen.

Bonus: we’re gifting you $5K in ad credits when you spend your first $5K on Roku Ads Manager. Just sign up and use code GET5K. Terms apply.

Industry:  Shopify’s customer service is said to have improved 😲

If you’ve almost burst an artery in the past trying to reach Shopify’s customer service, prepare to laugh. Shopify is now offering human customer service…we’re no longer pouring our hearts out to bots. Looks like we’ve come full circle and there’s probably a lesson in there somewhere for us sellers: customer service is not being a great use case for AI.

(Believe it or not, but we’ve had this edition planned out for a week. In this section, we already planned to tell you that Shopify recently added a “Chat with a human” option inside the support flow. )

Perfect timing if you’re tearing your hair out over today’s outage.

Mini Tip: Strengthen Retention Across Your Entire Customer Journey

As you plan for 2026, make sure your lifecycle marketing works across all the channels your customers actually use…email, SMS, WhatsApp, push notifications, Instagram DMs, and even direct mail.

Your three most powerful revenue levers:
• First-Touch Experience: Deliver consistent onboarding across channels to increase activation and trust.
• Post-Purchase Momentum: Educate, upsell, and delight customers with coordinated email, SMS & messaging journeys.
• Re-Activation: Win back slipping customers through targeted, personalized omnichannel outreach.

Flowium builds and optimizes all of this for you using proven lifecycle strategies and coordinated messaging across every channel.

Growth Hack: Growth Hack: Push Your Reviews to Google Shopping

A Redditor recently noticed something odd:

If you’re collecting reviews but not pushing them to Google Shopping, you’re leaving easy money (and traffic) on the table. Those little yellow stars are one of the strongest trust signals in ecommerce… and they dramatically boost CTR on both paid and free Shopping listings.

The catch is that Google doesn’t automatically accept reviews from every Shopify app. Tools like Judge.me, Stamped, and Loox don’t always sync unless you’re on their higher-tier plans. That’s why so many stores think they’re sending reviews to Google… when they actually aren’t.

But here’s the good news:
Google doesn’t care which app collected the reviews… it only cares that the feed matches its XML schema.
This means any Shopify brand can get its reviews into Google Shopping with the right setup.

Why this matters

  • Higher CTR: Products with stars get clicked more

  • Shoppers trust listings with visible social proof.

  • Google and AI models use structured review data to better interpret your product

Weekly Challenge: Push Your Reviews to Google

Your task this week: Get your product reviews feeding directly into Google Shopping.

Here’s how to do this:

Option 1: Upload your reviews manually (free option)

  • Export CSV from your review app

  • Convert it to Google’s XML format (tools like Review2XML make this easy)

  • Upload it to Google Merchant Center under:
Marketing → Product Reviews → Feeds

Option 2: Paid version of your review app

Several apps (Judge.me, Loox, Yotpo, Stamped, etc) most offer automated review feeds on their paid plans.

But so far, Stamped seems to be the easiest way to do this.

How to do it using Stamped.io in < 5 mins

1. Open Stamped and go to Settings > Google:Product Ratings

  1. Enable product ratings

  2. Voila!

A 3D Book Nook is a miniature scene that sits between books on a shelf… think tiny libraries, whimsical alleys, fantasy worlds, or movie-inspired scenes.

They’ve completely taken off as searches are up 165% in 6 months and 113.1.9K TikTok posts mention book nooks

A bestselling one on Amazon moves 3,100+ units/month at $32.99 each. And with the holiday season coming up, shoppers are searching for thoughtful, aesthetic, “wow factor” gifts… especially ones that feel personal and handcrafted. Book Nooks check every box.

AI that actually handles customer service. Not just chat.

Most AI tools chat. Gladly actually resolves. Returns processed. Tickets routed. Orders tracked. FAQs answered. All while freeing up your team to focus on what matters most — building relationships. See the difference.

How you can jump on this trend:

1. Sell DIY Book Nook Kits
They make perfect gifting-season products for crafters, book lovers and cozy-home shoppers.

2. Offer preassembled “collector” versions
These appeal to buyers who want premium, ready-to-gift pieces, and the higher price point naturally lifts your AOV.

3. Bundle related items
Think LED lights, display stands, themed bookmarks, mini figurines, or décor add-ons. Bundles perform extremely well during holiday gifting season.

4. Partner with BookTok creators
They're already creating content in cozy reading spaces. Your product fits the aesthetic perfectly.
