Big news: ChatGPT is your new sales channel

Big news dropped on Monday: Shopify just teamed up with OpenAI to bring shopping inside ChatGPT chats. Your customers will soon be able to browse, ask for recommendations, and buy from you all without leaving the conversation. Shopify calls this “agentic commerce”... aka turning AI chats into direct buying moments.

This is HUGE for several reasons… but here are my top 2:

  • ChatGPT is a new organic traffic sales source. No ad spend (yet!), no links, no redirects, just seamless checkout inside your customer’s chat.

  • Real-time inventory, pricing, and product info flow straight from Shopify to ChatGPT.

Before you read any further, here’s what you need to do to make this work for you

  1.  Sign your store up for updates so you’re first in line

  2. Make your store visible to AI search engines. Back in March, we covered a piece of research that showed that getting mentioned by other publications drastically increases a brand’s chances of getting picked up by ChatGPT. But that’s just one action that optimizes your store’s visibility in ChatGPT.

Growth Hack: Create landing pages that convert 10x better

So I follow quite a lot of agency owners, simply because they charge store owners like us to implement improvements/fixes. So it just makes sense to learn their strategies for free and implement in our stores… you get me?

Which brings me to a lesson that struck me this week. Why do brands keep sending paid traffic to generic homepage or product pages which often kill conversions?

Jeffery Park from Dardreamers Studio advocates a better way to approach this. Build each landing page around a specific customer avatar and drastically increase conversions.

The three types of landing pages he uses are:

Pre-Sell LP for cold audiences: (Short + Visual) Hook → Problem → Product Intro → Benefits → UGC → CTA.

BestLife4Pets does this excellently with its cat breath treatment ad copy and landing page.

Listicle LP for warm audiences: (“Why” Buy) Hook → 7 Reasons/Benefits → Soft CTAs → Stack offer

Offer LP for hot audiences: (Direct Response Style) Bold headline → Urgency → Benefits + Guarantee → FAQs → Order form

This system removes distractions and eliminates decision paralysis on the part of the customer.

Weekly challenge

Spend 60 minutes this week reviewing your landing pages for Black Friday.

Set aside 60 minutes this week to review your landing pages. If you don’t have audience-focused landing pages, create one for your hottest product this week.

Make sure it has:

  • No navigation menus

  • One clear call to action, preferably an SEO-optimized title. (You can use Plug In AI to suggest one)

  • Crisp images

  • Benefit-driven copy

  • Testimonials or social proof
