ChatGPT now shows product recommendations

OpenAI recently rolled out a new shopping feature inside ChatGPT... product recommendations.
This means that potential customers can now discover your products in ChatGPT. When they search for items, ChatGPT shows images, prices, reviews, and direct links to buy. Your job as a brand is to get your store to appear in these responses.
Have you noticed traffic from ChatGPT?(Referral source will show as something like "utm stource: chatgpt.com)" |
Growth Hack: Timed reviews
So I had a little play with the new feature to see what might make ChatGPT recommend my store over competitors…so I can double down.
I typed in “best golf trousers under £100 in the UK” into Google vs. ChatGPT and got some interesting results.
Google:

ChatGPT:

You’ll notice that ChatGPT didn’t feature Google’s top 3 in its recommendations…. which tells us that it uses different markers to determine which stores to show in its responses.
Looking into ChatGPT’s criteria for picking stores, the main difference appears to be ChatGPT also uses memories in its selection criteria. Another significant metric that both ChatGPT and Google is third-party content (such as reviews).
This means that as a store owner, you need to be strategic about getting customers to leave you reviews. But the thing is most stores ask for reviews too soon…so they never get responses (or reviews!)
However, data shows that asking a customer for a review from day 10 post-fulfillment, gives the best chance of getting a positive response. Especially if you do it with a follow-up email sequence….possibly because customers have time to use and evaluate the product.
Example: Let’s say you sell skincare. Ask too early, and they haven’t even opened the bottle. Ask on Day 10 with a short, friendly email + a photo reminder of what they bought = win.
Weekly Challenge: Launch a 10-Day Review Request Sequence
This week’s, take 30 mins to test a 2-step review sequence 10 days after order fulfilment. Use Stamped to get it sorted in 30 minutes or less.

Step 1: Register and craft a warm, non-pushy email (“Hey, how’s it going with your new [Product]? Got 30 seconds to share your thoughts?”)
Step 2: Send a reminder 3-5 days later with a thank-you/small incentive
Step 3: Watch your review count grow
Trending Product: Bouclé Pillows

Bouclé (boo-clay) pillows are soft, plush, photogenic throw pillows made from Bouclé yarn which creates a nubby, cozy texture. They are blowing up in the US and Australia, and are popular in earthy tones like sage, ivory, taupe, and slate.
One Amazon seller brings in $217K/month from these alone!
How to cash in if you’re in the home niche:
Upsell boucle pillows with throws/blankets
Target content creators doing room makeovers or "cozy home" content. Use Levanta to find/book Amazon influencers to get a slice of the Amazon market pie
Grow smarter: Reallocate ad spend, boost ROAS with affiliates
Ad spend keeps climbing. ROAS? Not so much.
The smartest Amazon sellers aren’t spending more—they’re spending smarter.
The Affiliate Shift Calculator models what could happen if you reallocated a portion of your ad budget into affiliate marketing.
Built for sellers doing $5M+ on Amazon.
That’s a wrap for this week! Keep testing, stay cozy (maybe with a bouclé pillow?), and don’t forget…you’ve got what it takes to crush it. 🚀💰
Till then,
Ada
